About
OUR APPROACH
The UC Speaks Up initiative represents the core of the signature project of the UC Global Health Institute Women’s Health, Gender and Empowerment Center of Expertise. All of our work – including research, service and advocacy efforts – is done using a collaborative approach, involving students, staff, faculty and other scholarly investigators from UCLA, UCSD and UCSB. Our efforts were launched with support from the UC San Diego Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) and GEH remains a close partner.
All research team members have received formal training on trauma-informed practices, research ethics and compliance, how to conduct safe and ethical research on intimate partner violence, and qualitative research methods. We are equipped with resources to support survivors that are confidential and accessible both on- and off- campus.
Our team takes pride in our efforts to participate in mindful practices that acknowledge the sensitive nature of our research. It is our utmost goal to mitigate harm and support our community.
