PhD Student in Public Health (Global Health Track)

Brittnie Bloom, MS, is a second year PhD student in the UC San Diego/San Diego State University Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health (Global Health Track) and a Center on Gender Equity and Health Fellow. She works with Dr. Jennifer Wagman on projects related to campus-based sexual assault and women’s health. She is currently investigating how early and multiple exposures to informal and formal sex education may impact a student’s experience of relationship violence/sexual assault in college. She is also investigating how a woman’s agency is related to condom negotiation and disclosure of intimate partner violence among women living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda. She received her Master of Science in Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health Sciences (Health Promotion and Education) from UCLA. Brittnie is a first-generation to college student and participated in the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program as an undergraduate at SDSU and as a Yale Ciencia Scholar as a doctoral student.
